Saving the World... One Squat at a Time

Welcome to CakeFit!

When you work with a CakeFit trainer, you’ll have plenty of variety to ensure you’ll never get bored! Depending on your goals and interests, you can choose to work on powerlifting, Olympic weightlifting, kickboxing, and kettlebells. We are also exceptionally good at working with injuries and chronic pain.

We are available at two work locations: one in Chelsea and one in Union Square. If you have a location between midtown and Union Square that you’d like us to consider, please make a suggestion and we will see if we can make it work!

Recommended Footwear

In order to encourage optimum body mechanics during training sessions, we recommend wearing minimalist sneakers. If you don't already have some, here is some advice on how to pick a pair:

There are many brands and models to choose from, but not all shoes marketed at "minimalist" are truly minimalist, so make sure that if it is your first time looking into these types of shoes, you look for the ones with flat soles. Some shoes are "transition" models, which means they are kind of in between conventional sneakers and minimalist shoes. As long as the out sole drop is no more than 4mm, it should be just fine.

Our favorite brands:

We have yet to try everything that's available on the market, and new ones are always popping up! Here's a good place to start your search.

Nutrition Tips

We don’t believe in nutrition dogma, but from our personal and professional experience, we’ve found that a diet similar to the “paleo” trend has been ideal for athletic performance and weight loss. Our favorite nutrition advice comes from Dallas and Melissa Hartwig in their book, It Starts With Food, due to its sustainability, level of satiation after each meal, and flexibility. You can take their 30 day challenge, or just incorporate their rules as suggestions into your existing nutrition plan.
